Chod Practice

  • January 28, 2017 @ 1:30 pm - 3:30 pm

1:30 PM CHOD PRACTICE
Lecturer: Tulku Yeshi Rinpoche
Saturday, January  28
Time: 1:30
Location: Shrine Room at Sakya Monastery of Tibetan Buddhism
Suggested contribution: Free, Donations Accepted

If possible, it is very helpful to bring a Chöd damaru (drum), Vajra bell and Kangdhung (traditional bone or copper horn) or conch shell. If you don’t have a damaru or kangdhung, there will be a few available at Sakya Monastery. Please also bring tsok.

Having the Chod Empowerment is best, but at a minimum, you must have the Oral Transmission in order to practice Chod. If you do not have it, but would like to practice, please email : herukainstitute @ gmail.com. In preparation, it is advisable to  begin by reading the story of Machig Labdron, which is chronicled in many books online.

Before coming to Chod Practice, please listen to Chod CD with the Sadhana. If you don’t have the CD and Sadhana, they are available from the Monastery Bookshop and from Tulku Yeshi. The benefit of Chod is that it frees you from the suffering caused by ego. It helps you generate love and compassion for all sentient beings. Chod also provides physical and mental healing.
